Gary's Shed: Before and After

For several days, Gary's skin has looked dull, and he appeared to be close to shedding. It looked the same for several days, leading me to believe he had shed and he was just less colorful. Finally, he appeared nearly pale and he started hiding more. Today he has fully shed his skin, and his spots are much more bold. His darker brown patches are starting to turn more yellow, which will be his coloration as an adult. Gary has been shedding without issues, and I haven't had to assist in removing stuck skin at all. His old skin disappears without a trace since leopard geckos are one of few reptiles that eat their own skin. It sounds gross to us, but when you're a desert reptile nutrients are hard to come by. At least they don't consume their own urine like Bear Grylls...
